Back to Business: Turn September Into Your Most Productive Month Yet

ree

Ah, September… the month we all pretend we’re suddenly ready to conquer the world after a summer of half-hearted attempts at relaxation.

For the businesswoman, it's time to get serious. Because let’s face it, the end of the year is fast approaching, and there's no room for procrastination.

If you want to finish strong, this month is when you hit the ground running.

How? By striking the right balance between seizing new opportunities and wrapping up the old ones. Think of September as your business “reset” button—press it, and watch the magic happen.

This isn’t just any month. It's the month you need to get your business ready for the heavy lifting ahead.

Q4 is just around the corner, and with it, all the big events… Black Friday, Cyber Monday, Christmas sales, and everything in between.

This month is your launchpad, and we’ll make sure you make it count.

Step 1: Stop Chasing Shiny Objects

Let’s be honest for a second. As entrepreneurs, we all have that one “shiny object syndrome” moment every other week.

You know… when a new opportunity pops up, and suddenly you forget everything you’ve been working on. But September is your moment of clarity.

Stop running after every new trend or the latest marketing gimmick. Focus. Look at your goals for the next quarter and ask yourself, “Is this going to help me achieve that, or is it just another distraction?”

Most of the time, it’s a distraction. Be ruthless with your time. If it’s not aligned with your end-of-year goals, don’t waste a second on it

Step 2: Break Free from Perfectionism

Here’s a fun little secret: perfect doesn’t exist.

We’ve all spent weeks, sometimes months, tweaking and refining a product or project, waiting for it to be “just right.”

But here’s the catch… your business can never be perfect, and that’s okay because imperfect action will always outweigh perfect inaction.

September is the month to push past that perfectionist barrier and give yourself permission to be imperfectly productive.

It’s about progress, not perfection. So, get comfortable with launching before you’re ready, testing your ideas in real time, and course-correcting as you go.

Step 3: Say “No” More Often

ree

Saying “yes” to every opportunity or meeting will stretch you thin and turn your focus into mush.

So, channel your inner CEO and get comfortable with saying “no.” Yes, you’ll disappoint some people (and that’s okay), but your time is too valuable to waste on things that don’t serve your vision.

Think about it… if your calendar’s packed with irrelevant meetings or tasks that don’t contribute to your growth, then where’s the time to actually make a difference in your business?

A busy calendar doesn’t equal productivity. It just means you’ve mastered the art of being a human calendar.

Step 4: Focus on Your Current Customers

While it’s tempting to always look ahead for new business, don’t forget the goldmine of opportunity right in front of you: your current customers.

Repeat business and referrals are where the real money’s at.

Take a moment to check in with your current clients.

Is there anything more they need? Ask for feedback, and be genuinely interested in how you can improve.

This simple follow-up can lead to more sales without having to hunt down new customers.

Pro-tip: They might just appreciate the personal touch of a follow-up email. Don’t just disappear into the void once they’ve made a purchase.

Step 5: Build (and Honor) Your Boundaries

This one's a game-changer. September is the month to set some serious boundaries, both with your time and your clients.

Yes, your clients want you available 24/7, but you’re not a robot. In fact, you’re a human, and you need your time to recharge.

Set clear work hours, communicate them, and stick to them. It’s not rude to set boundaries; it’s necessary for your mental health and long-term business success.

If clients can’t respect that, maybe it’s time to re-evaluate whether they’re the right fit. Giving yourself space will allow you to serve your clients better and be more productive in the long run.

September - Your Power Month

September is your moment to power up. It’s a month of progress, of recalibrating, and of setting yourself up for a successful end to the year.

But hey, take it easy. No one’s asking you to be perfect. Just be real, be focused, and intentional with every move you make this month.

Let’s make September the month you truly harness your power, leaving excuses and distractions behind.

After all, success doesn’t wait and neither should you.
